Refugees…

God can bring change in a hurry. Read the book of Esther. Which leads me to a not so random thought… When my children are forced to flee the rabidly intolerant and oppressive West, where will they be welcomed? Maybe Uganda. Maybe Russia. Maybe China. Maybe Syria.

  1. Some commands:
[Deu 10:18-19 NASB] 18 “He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing. 19 “So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

[Lev 19:34 NASB] 34 ‘The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.

[Luk 6:35 NASB] 35 “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

    Warning:
[Deu 28:15, 43 NASB] 15 “But it shall come about, if you do not obey the LORD your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: … 43 “The alien who is among you shall rise above you higher and higher, but you will go down lower and lower.

    Conclusion:
We should obey the LORD our God.

    • Dear David,

Sobering verses. Caring for the dispossessed is part of true religion. Of course that doesn’t mean we request our government set aside the task of protecting us (background checks). As I was thinking about it, I wondered what my thoughts would be if the tables were turned…and that is a very real possibility.

      Love,
      Andrew

  2. Dear Andrew,

Also, there are verses in the bible that say that the alien is subject to the same laws and punishments as God’s people. If they commit acts of terrorism or war, then they should be be treated as terrorists or enemy combatants.

Our leaders need to think through what they are doing very carefully.

I am glad that God is sovereign.

    Love,
    David
